Within the next few years, 3.6 billion people will use messaging apps—that’s about about half of humanity. It’s hardly a surprise that brands are scrambling to gain a toehold on these popular channels. Both Facebook and Twitter have seen the demand and they’ve recently created tools to help businesses interact with their customers more effectively over their respective apps.
Now here’s the thing with the box. It obviously had a theme, but there was nothing in the box talking about the theme. While I know the box is for the dog, it would be nice to have a card describing why they paired all those items together (and maybe describing what makes it a good item for your puppers). I also had no idea which toy was the premium toy was until I researched it online.
Emmy likes: The blue hippo toy is super durable and has a little slot where you can slip in some treats, which will keep Tico occupied for a wee bit when I leave the house. Also, wow: the appleberry treats smell like cinnamon cookies! (They're made from all-natural ingredients including applesauce, blueberries, honey, and cinnamon.) The jerky treats are "chippable," so you can break off just a little at a time, which is great for ~portion~ control or as training treats. Also, the "heavy chewers" box is just $5 more than the cost of a regular box, and it's customizable for common allergies; you can also email them if your pup's allergies aren't listed and they'll be happy to accommodate.
Emmy likes: You have the the option to choose a treats and toys *or* a treats-only or toys-only box, which is very cool — and can specify whether you'd like the treats to be all-natural, organic, grain-free, or protein-sensitive. You can also choose how frequently you'd like to be sent the box (monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly) and how many items you'd like to be in the box; the "uno" comes with four to five items, and the "grande" with five to seven. The power chewer option is only $7 more than a regular box, which makes it an incredible deal, overall.
When we went to meet (and ultimately take home) our rescue mini-schnauzer mix Reggie a year and a half ago, we took four things with us: a collar and leash, a small plush hedgehog, and this weblike rubber ball. The plush hedgehog is now a flat hedgehog — like most dogs, Reggie takes great pride in disemboweling his stuffed toys — and the leash and collar are a little worse for wear, but the Hol-ee Roller rubber ball is still going strong. In fact, it looks pretty much new.
The subscription service has already touted itself as an experience for dogs and their owners, with a new theme to each month’s arrival. Past themes have tapped into holidays (Halloween is a popular one), pop culture (including a whole box dedicated to the ’90s), and other creative ventures that often involve a good pun (including “Secrets of the Rainfurrest”). Many BarkBox subscribers also share these experiences via social media through “unboxing” videos on Instagram, Snapchat, and YouTube.
Your first bark box normally comes with instructions on how to allow your dog to open it, and this is a great idea! My Mastiff, Thor, and his pitbull sister, Brinley, anxiously await their monthly BarkBox as soon as I tell them it's been shipped. The treats are nutritious, I use some of them in my puppy training classes. Thor commandeers the toys but gradually lets his sister play with them. Most of them hold up very well, lasting for several months. For a heavy chewer like mine, this is a testament to their quality.
We recently underwent a very large warehouse move for the month of July. In doing so we had a few hiccups with some of our boxes. Then also there was limited inventory in our new warehouse. Which would be why that replacement order was canceled. I can totally understand your frustration with the back and fourth and the confusion. I first signed up for back box 4 months ago when they were running a special. I signed up for the 6-month bark box and did not read the VERY small, fine print that they had on the sign up which I was under the impression I would get a bark box every 6 months, and pay for them every six months when they ship it. Unfortunately, the small print stated that it was 1 box every month for 6 months and that the price would increase after the first month.

Seriously? I just spoke to someone at Bark Box today about a late delivery for Scout Finch’s box. They not only are making sure the box ships on time now, they’re sending the next box free AND including an extra toy.
