Of course, all of the boxes have been scrutinized through our eyes. While I don’t claim that everyone will agree with our assessment, we do have some pretty high standards. Chester and Gretel are strong chewers so toys have to be quality, or have some kind of special sauce, to last around this house; we live in Seattle – the land of high-end, boutique pet stores; and I’ve seen some of the highest-quality, cutting edge products available at pet industry trade shows. We are not easy sells so I feel like when we say a subscription box is good, it really is.
I have a 15 lb Shorky that would chew threw barkbox toys in minutes. We were put on the destroyer list and told the toys would not have anything harmful in them, wrong. The last toy we received (because I. canceled my subscription) was a stuffed coffin that your dog was suppose to tear it open to get to a bone inside, the toys was filled with stuffing and a squeaker that I had to get away from my dog right away and a rubber bone. I let my dog have the bone and within seconds he had chewed a piece off the end. Yet another toy that went into the garbage. I have toys that I bought at Walmart that are better quality and have lasted months. barkbox is a waste off money!!
It’s listed in my comparison post and it’s a good box. It didn’t make it to my top 3 though. It’s been around a long time and not changed much since the beginning. That is a good thing because most other boxes have come and gone. It also means that more modern offerings have come out that offer more like customization/personalization and more donations to charity though. Each of them on my top three have a little something special and/or their products and treats were just a bit better than the rest.
Soon after we adopted Ada (beagle mix, 16 pounds, 1 year), we learned we had a serious gnawer on our hands. Of all the elaborate toys we’ve impulse-bought to deter her from eating our belongings, the inexpensive Nylabone Dura Chew is one of the few that have withstood her teeth for more than a week. While the toy looks scraped-up at the edges these days, none of the plastic is actually coming off, as happens with most stuff she puts in her mouth (RIP to all the animal-shaped toys). The Nylabone’s slim shape tucks easily into her travel carrier when we head out to visit family, and it keeps the peace while we’re there. The classic design makes for some pretty adorable moments, too. It comes in a couple of flavors, but of the two we’ve bought, the original flavor is the one in heavy rotation. Don’t overthink it.
Playtime is also a great opportunity for puppy teaching moments. You can train your dog through play, and with dog toys. Chewy carries the best dog toys from top dog toy makers like USA Bones & Chews, Nylabone, and KONG. There are dog balls and dog fetch toys, dog chew toys, plush dog toys, interactive dog toys, dog puzzles and rope and tug dog toys for your pup to play with. KONG dog toys are durable and made to last. If your canine’s a rascal with a strong jaw, KONG toys can be the perfect alternative to your designer furniture. KONG tough dog toys include balls of all shapes and sizes, and even cuddly plush toys. Plush dog toys are great for canine’s seeking comfort as they can ease some pup anxiety. Interactive dog toys help stimulate your pup’s mind, which is the key to a fulfilling life. If your pup loves to chew on your prized possessions, dog chew toys can come to the rescue. Chew toys can keep your pup busy for hours, and away from your closet. Playtime with your pup is a priceless experience pet parents cherish. Make the most of pup play with dog toys from Chewy.
In November, Bark released its first major TV spot; airing on more than 25 networks including Animal Planet, Freeform and Lifetime, the 30-second spot was largely inspired by the user generated content that appears on social media feeds. The shoot took about 12 hours, while the shoot for a recent two-minute comedic video about dog moms during the holidays took about four days. The new sketch touches on what BarkBox videos often encompass: the weird dogs we live with and the funny things they do.
“The Bark & Co support team always strives to deepen customer relationships through social. However, with the sheer volume of direct messages coming in every day, it’s sometimes a challenge to maintain the levity and respond to customers promptly. Fortunately, with Zendesk Message and the use of a chatbot, we are able to escalate high priority conversations to our agents. This ensures that our support team can handle the more complex queries, leaving customers happier.”
Great review. I started with barkbox years ago and switched to pet treater about 8 months ago when a friend told me they did the same. Very, very glad I did. Barkbox seems to appeal more to the pet owner rather than my actual dog. adopted a cat a few months back and signed up for pet treater’s cat pack and love it. I can’t compare it to any others, as I haven’t tried any other cat box, but I did notice all the other’s ive found are double the price, so I’ll stick with this one unless something changes.
Claire likes: I was pleasantly surprised at Dapper Dog's great customer service — when I said I had a young puppy, someone emailed me within a day confirming that I did indeed have a puppy, so they could make sure to include age-appropriate toys. I appreciated the thoughtfulness and that Dapper Dog followed through by adding a puppy teething bone to Ruggie's box, which she gnaws on with the passion of a thousand suns.
Extra Customization. Dog subscription boxes come with a wide array of customization options. While all boxes take into account your dog’s size, some also consider gender, environment, allergies, toy temperament (gentle or rough with toys), and other preferences. Generally, the more customization options you have, the pricier the box will be, but this isn’t always true. We make sure to note when certain boxes provide extra customization features, so if you know specific things you do or do not want in your doggy subscription box, be sure to look for boxes that provide that extra level of personal customization.
Absolutely love barkbox! I just signed up for my chocolate lab and I am very impressed! Great quality toys and adorable treats which my dog LOVES. He just got his first box today and he’s been carrying around his little stuffed bird all afternoon, he is obsessed! I was also very impressed with how fast it was delivered! I ordered it Sunday night and received it Wednesday, and it said it wasn’t going to come until July 2nd! So I was very happy about that and so was my sweet boy. I will definitely recommend barkbox to anyone who has playful pups! I will also continue to be a regular customer! :)
Durable toys. Clean nutrition. Unsurpassed quality. Sustainable wellness. Our team of experts hand-select all natural products and strive to source items that are organic and innovative. Our toys are hand selected with power chewers in mind, but we also take into consideration that not all power chewing pups like the hard toys. So we promise to always offer an exciting variety of durable toys and yummy treats. We take great care in partnering with companies that share our unwavering commitment to the well-being of pets and giving back to communities.
Like several corporate replies to others' reviews, I also have been informed by corporate that a "hiccup in the warehouse" is delaying August orders. Zero information was provided by the company up front to explain this problem. I attempted a chat with customer service last week only to discover that there is no chat. I had to leave a message, which wasn't returned. Then I emailed customer service about an ETA. That prompted a corporate reply with the as-now-standard "hiccup in the warehouse" explanation. I was told our August box is "still on the way." That doesn't answer my ETA question.
On the 20th, I filled out a support ticket to find out what was going on and was told there are delays this month due to a change in location of their warehouse. Now, wouldn't you think the company would send out a communication to its client base at the beginning of the month letting them know there may be delays this month due to a new location for their warehouse?
Hey Dustie and pack! We are so happy to hear that you guys are loving every single toy and treat that comes in your boxes! That is our main goal when sending out those boxes monthly! First, they don’t see themselves as just another subscription box service. They see themselves as a modern concierge service that combines the best of convenience, control, and value. They offer a lot of ways to customize your box including choices for grain-free gourmet treats, options for toys-only or treats-only boxes, the ability to choose toys tailored to your dog’s chewing style, and offer a multi-dog option for larger households.
