Because of the way people relate to their pets now (about 44 percent of millennials alone consider their pets as “starter children”), Bark is able to captivate two major audiences: dog owners and dog people. “Our audience is just people who love dogs,” said Stacie Grissom, head of content. “We start conversations about dogs and form relationships with people around dogs in general. And 85 percent of our content doesn’t even mention BarkBox specifically.”
I am the owner/operator of a Doggy DayCamp (daycare for dogs), and I was searching for unusual, but fun toys for two DayCampers having their one-year Birthday. I could have ordered the same toys via Amazon Prime but I decided that I wanted to see what BarkBox was all about. Huge mistake. They are the worst. They took my money and never shipped birthday gifts.
Many of your dog's toys should be interactive. Interactive play is very important for your dog because he needs active "people time." By focusing on a specific task, like repeatedly returning a ball, Kong® or Frisbee ®, or playing "hide-and-seek" with treats or toys, your dog can expend pent-up mental and physical energy in a limited amount of time and space. This greatly reduces stress due to confinement, isolation and/or boredom. For young, high-energy and untrained dogs, interactive play also offers an opportunity for socialization and helps them learn about appropriate and inappropriate behavior, such as jumping up or being mouthy.
Thank you for your review Jack and we're so happy to have you in the pack! :) I did want to clarify that you can cancel anytime. I was dubious that we really needed yet another plush toy, but after Gus (Chihuahua-poodle mix, 18 pounds, 18 months) loved playing with the Outward Hound Hide A Squirrel at a friend’s place, I had to get one. He typically has trouble paying attention to squeaky toys for more than a few minutes at a time, but the more challenging setup of three squeaky squirrels in a tree-trunk-shaped pouch will keep him going for hours. He fishes squirrels out, then runs around like crazy with whichever one is left in his mouth last. I can send the next one sailing the moment he’s back with the first, making it easy to tire him out. He also loves to chew on and shake the tree stump. The pieces are relatively tough too: After three months of near-daily playing, I have yet to do any mending to sew up holes (your mileage may vary—it’s still a plush toy).

Total price of items, if bought individually: ~$51.89 for Ruggie's box ("iBalls" dog toys, elk antler chew, salmon and ginger treats, chicken-flavor training teats, stuffless crinkle bone toy) and ~$76 for Tico's box (turkey and duck burger treats, salmon and ginger treats, chicken jerky treats, rocket dispenser toy, nubby toss toy, stuffless crinkle bone toy). All prices sourced from Amazon and Pupjoy's website.

PupJoy also earned big points with us because their mission is to do good and make a significant difference. They support the little guy by sourcing from small suppliers who are focused on creating quality, responsible products, they give a lot more to charity programs – almost 50% – than other subscription box companies, and they have also fostered a community of dog lovers like you, who together are capable of doing some good and making an impactful change.
Claire dislikes: So Ruggie loves the Hippo, Trek Treats and the Banana Safari Snacks but tbh, I didn't even give her the lion toy because even though she would love it, toys with that kind of long hairy stuff make her gag. And maybe I'm being paranoid (new dog mom over here!), but that butcher's bone seemed kinda gross. I mean, it had a "no carpet" warning on it because it would leave stains, and if I can't have something on a carpet, why would I want the bone gunk all over her fur, which then would get all over her bed? Idk, maybe I'll give it to her as a puppy kindergarten graduation present and have her eat it in the kitchen.
One of the many things we love about Barkbox? The company devotes itself to helping at-risk pets through a generous philanthropic program using some of their sales proceeds. We can’t help but share this inspirational video that demonstrates the heart behind Barkbox. See what they did to celebrate one dog’s incredible journey back from a life of terrible abuse.
Great review. I started with barkbox years ago and switched to pet treater about 8 months ago when a friend told me they did the same. Very, very glad I did. Barkbox seems to appeal more to the pet owner rather than my actual dog. adopted a cat a few months back and signed up for pet treater’s cat pack and love it. I can’t compare it to any others, as I haven’t tried any other cat box, but I did notice all the other’s ive found are double the price, so I’ll stick with this one unless something changes.

I was so excited to love BarkBox. First box, first toy, my pup pops the seam in less then 5 minutes (tug o' war with another dog). I request a replacement and was told "Not to worry, I am going to go ahead and send you out that replacement! I went ahead and marked you down for our more durable plush option at no extra cost, since you said she loves her plush toys. I know you said you wanted to test out a puzzle toy so I am going to go ahead and send you one right now:) Please tell Tonks it should arrive within 3-5 business days!"
Avoid or alter any toys that aren't "dog-proof" by removing ribbons, strings, eyes or other parts that could be chewed off and ingested. Discard toys when they start to break into pieces or are torn. Check labels on stuffed toys to see that they are labeled as safe for children under three years of age and that they don't contain any dangerous fillings. Problem fillings include nutshells and polystyrene beads, but even "safe" stuffings aren't truly digestible. Remember that soft toys are not indestructible, but some are sturdier than others. Soft toys should be machine washable.
I think for the price, its worth it, especially since it costs equal if not less than going to the petstore and buying 5 items (two toys, two treats, one chew). Its delivered to your door and I feel like your pup would be more than excited upon getting it. The themes are cute and change every month which is great. You also get a little cake treat when it is around your dogs birthday which is also cute. You have the option and ability to add more products to your boxes every month too however it comes at an extra fee so keep that in mind if you want to splurge.
Larger dogs and heavy chewers need a toy that will hold up to their sharp teeth and strong chewing — that is exactly what the KONG Extreme Dog Toy provides. Constructed from an ultra-durable black rubber compound, this chew toy is virtually indestructible, and one of the top recommended toys by vets and dog trainers. It also earned the approval of our test dogs!

Reviews by Stop That Dog and Tough Toy Pros speak to the toy's durability as well as its ability to clean your dog's teeth during play. In our own testing, the Mammoth Flossy Chews Cotton Blend 3-Knot Rope Tug stood up to everything our test dog threw at it. The cotton blend materials were durable against some rough tugging, and the three knots provided hand holds for a strong grip. Our test dog couldn't get enough of this rope toy.

We started this whole operation to serve the people who are just like us: nuts about dogs. We're "our dogs have more elaborate parties then we do" obsessed. We eat ramen noodles while our dogs dine on organic grass-fed beef. We are disappointed when our dogs don't follow us into the bathroom. Our families think it's cause for concern. But who cares about them? We're here for you and your dog. We've never met your dog, but we know we love them.
