He had to be completely cut open. Between the emotional pain of my dog having surgery, being in the ICU, having a pain med patch stapled to his back and weeks of recovery, I never trusted this company again. I wish I had never tried them.Suffice to say, not a fan and I tell anyone considering trying them this story. I'd rather pick my own treats and toys and be able to know what i'm getting quality wise. Be careful if you subscribe, big breeds might be ok but I'm sure small breeds regularly have this happen to them with this company.

I've always wanted to try a subscription for my pups but I'm a bit ashamed that this was my first experience. BarkBox was good but had major hits and misses. I have giant, playful, strong dogs and though this was indicated, I don't feel as though any size consideration is evaluated when selecting toys for the boxes. I do like that they always came with two toys because it meant each dog had 15 minutes of play time before I had to wrestle their jaws open to dig out the stuffing and bits of squeakers they were about to ingest. The treats have been great! They especially loved the apple cider treats that started to ferment when left in a cookie jar and made all their other treats reek of beer. As a consumer that willingly signed up for the box and entered my debit card information freely, I should have read more in-depth. I did not know that when you terminate your subscription that you will continue to be charged until you reach the year mark of signing up. For me it meant 9 more months of money that was to be taken out of my account had I not caught it. I like true month to month boxes where a cancellation is immediate and I wish they had made their rather off-kilter ways of charging and processing more visible. I can think of some major changes that they could make but ultimately some of the blame rests on me for not reading better. I know my pups will be sad as they've grown accustomed to their box but I can buy more durable and healthy big dog treats for just a little more money and I know it would be more worth it.

Last month it took way longer than normal to get our barbox. I didn’t complain about it or anything. It happens. I got an email from barkbox today that said because my last shipment took so long to get to me, they upgraded me to 2 day shipping for the remainder of my membership. I ordered a gift for a friend's new dog. Neither my friend nor I received any information about the order in over two weeks: no tracking, no explanation for the delay, no updates within the order section of my account page, etc. My chats with the company went unanswered. The only acknowledgment of the order I received was the bill on my credit card. Disappointed and embarrassed to give such a crappy gift.
Each plan automatically renews at its original interval (monthly, six months, or yearly), and you can cancel your renewal at any time. But if you really don't like the idea of commitments, rest assured that you can simply "bark in" to customer service and they will cancel your subscription immediately, regardless of your renewal date. The first time I ordered from BarkBox I had a bad experience. They lost my order, and I had to contact them several times to receive my order. I thought I would give them a second chance and I placed an order on 8/22 for my granddog's birthday on 8/29. I received an email stating the order would be received in 2-5 days. It is now the 29th, her birthday, and my order has not even left the warehouse yet! I will not be giving them a third try. From now on I will be ordering from Amazon. They are much more reliable.

I ordered Barkbox when they were having their $5 promotion. When we got the box, my dogs liked the treats, but destroyed the toys in less than an hour. For $5, I wasn't complaining. Before I could cancel (only days after I received my first box) they charged my card $25. I called and expressed how unhappy I was with the box, and I no longer wanted to receive them. They would not refund my money. I just got my second box that I paid for weeks ago, and it's the same deal. They like the treats, but I can go buy better toys from Walmart for less. I was told it would be cancelled after this box, and I really hope that's the case. It's not worth $25...
When searching for a monthly box for my two dogs I wanted something that was healthy and a product where the company put the pets first. Pawpack does just that! Their customer service is spot on, probably the best I have ever dealt with. They reply to all emails and questions and they without a doubt all love what they do and the animals they help.
