I am the owner/operator of a Doggy DayCamp (daycare for dogs), and I was searching for unusual, but fun toys for two DayCampers having their one-year Birthday. I could have ordered the same toys via Amazon Prime but I decided that I wanted to see what BarkBox was all about. Huge mistake. They are the worst. They took my money and never shipped birthday gifts.
Made in the USA. Many of these subscription boxes for dogs source their treats (and sometimes toys as well) from the USA. Some source them from the USA and other areas, but promise that nothing comes from China. We tried to make note of sourcing information in this guide, but if this is important to you (and it probably should be – especially when it comes to treats), make sure to check the box’s website for the full details on where products are sourced from.
Claire dislikes: Tbh, I was mildly exasperated by this box. They sent three of the same kind of toy, which was so disappointing because for the same gagging/choking hazard reasons I couldn't give Ruggie the lion toy from the BarkBox, I couldn't give these "iBalls" to her either. The antler I received was so, so small, and while I know Ruggie's a tiny beeb, she still goes to town on her chew toys and was worried she'd swallow it accidentally or something.
By focusing on a specific task —such as repeatedly returning a ball, Kong, or Frisbee® or playing "hide-and-seek" with treats or toys — your dog can expend pent-up mental and physical energy from boredom in a limited amount of time and space. For young, high-energy and untrained dogs, interactive play also offers an opportunity for socialization and helps them learn about appropriate and inappropriate behavior, such as jumping up or being mouthy.
PupJoy is the treat better box for your dog. Their concierge approach gives you unmatched ability to customize to the unique needs of your dog. With two box sizes ranging from $29 to $44, each month they will delight your pup with curated deliveries of super high quality, artisan treats, toys & accessories. And they have a huge charitable program for rescue dogs and AYA breast cancer patients, the PupJoy Care Pack.
Bonus — If you’re gifting a BarkBox subscription, you can surprise your recipient with a Double Deluxe BarkBox. That means, in their first BarkBox, they’ll get DOUBLE the number of toys, treats, and chews than a regular BarkBox – that’s FOUR toys, FOUR treats, and TWO chews! It’s a one-time $19 upgrade to make a wow-worthy Christmas gift of two boxes worth of dog goodies, followed by regular BarkBoxes for the rest of the subscription. Surprise My Pet rounds out our top three best monthly dog box subscription boxes as a newcomer that’s already making a paw print among its competition. Launched in early 2015, Surprise My Pet stands out for its unique features, namely its paw for paw guarantee — if your dog is totally uninterested in one of the products, you can email them, and they’ll send you a replacement item for free.
Thank you so much! I have 4 yorkies. My babies who range in size. 3 lb to 8lbs with this review and due to your reply I’ll be buying at least boxes next month. Can’t wait! One box I’m excited now to say will be for my lady Xena who has allergies to certain foods. And I’m allergic to latex. So I can’t have any rubber toys delivered. Your reply put me at ease. Thank you!! Please.let me know if I can make sure to say to rubber only nylon?
According to the BarkBox website, all edible items are tested in-house, are sourced directly from the U.S., Canada, South America, Australia, and New Zealand, and are never processed with formaldehyde. Because BarkBox’s founders are dog lovers as well, they wouldn’t send anything to your dogs, that they wouldn’t send to their own. In addition, the company claims that at least 10% of all profits are given to canine-related shelters, rescues, and welfare organizations.

I ordered my first BarkBox which was estimated to arrive this Thursday, October 4th (tomorrow). As a first time box buyer you're supposed to receive your box 2-8 business days from your order. I checked on status today and it now says that the box is "still being prepared" when just a couple days ago it had the arrival date of 10/4/18. I already paid for the full 6 months subscription up front. When trying to chat with a service rep they said they had no idea of an estimated date in which I would receive the box. When I asked to cancel the subscription she said I could only cancel going forward and not be refunded for the 6 months I had already paid for. Welcome to BarkBox I suppose! Duped out of my money right out of the gate. I will be going to BBB to get a refund. Paying for services/product then being told "we have no idea what you'll receive this product" is not an acceptable way to do business.

I ordered Barkbox when they were having their $5 promotion. When we got the box, my dogs liked the treats, but destroyed the toys in less than an hour. For $5, I wasn't complaining. Before I could cancel (only days after I received my first box) they charged my card $25. I called and expressed how unhappy I was with the box, and I no longer wanted to receive them. They would not refund my money. I just got my second box that I paid for weeks ago, and it's the same deal. They like the treats, but I can go buy better toys from Walmart for less. I was told it would be cancelled after this box, and I really hope that's the case. It's not worth $25...
The box is extra fun because it has a new surprise theme to keep things fresh each month. If they can’t find something your dog will love that fits the theme, they make it themselves! One of the coolest things is that they have an online store – called BarkShop – where you can order more of what your dog loved in their box. (their product descriptions are hilarious by the way and will keep you entertained for hours).
Decided to try Barkbox for my 2 Malinois and my Boston Terrier. They are sharing one box started three months ago. All but one toys from the first 2 boxes are still intact. And they like the baked treats. My third box was stolen from the post office parcel box, and the company replaced it even though it was clearly not their fault. Would highly recommend this. The dogs and I have fun with the boxes!
A good dog toy will amuse your dog for a little while, but a great dog toy will keep him busy for hours at a time. Choosing the perfect dog toy is about finding something your dog likes that will also stand up to some rough play and maybe some heavy chewing. Not all dog toys are created equal, and each dog has his own unique preferences. If you were to test all of the dog toys on the market, it would take you ages. Fortunately, we've done the work for you to find the best dog toys out there.
Made from phthalate-free vinyl, the Wobble Wag Giggle Ball is durable for both indoor and outdoor use, and it will stand up against all but the most aggressive chewers. This toy doesn't need batteries, and there is no setup required — all it takes is a simple nudge for the ball to start moving and mimicking the joyful sound of laughter that will keep your dog excited and engaged for hours.
Dog toys are at the heart of most bonding moments between pet and parent. That’s because dogs of all ages thrive on regular exercise and interaction to keep them happy and healthy. Toys for dogs are key to helping your furry family member stay occupied, stimulated and content, as well as a great way for pet parents to interact with their pets in a fun, positive way. An entertaining and durable dog toy will effectively keep your dog busy and make them less likely to get bored and take out their energy on off-limit items like shoes, important documents, and more.
Emmy likes: The collegiate-themed box, including a frat bro and bona fide Bark University "acceptance letter," was *adorable*. (Or should I say...adogable? No, I shouldn't. I'm sorry.) Tico doesn't discriminate when it comes to treats (we're talking about a dog who ate a slimy days-old banana lying in the dirt the other day), and he loved them all equally — but it's great that you can customize the box to accommodate any allergies your pup has. Oh, and you can join its "extra toy club" and receive an additional toy in your box for an extra $9. Starting at $21/month, Barkbox is also the most affordable subscription we tried.

“It’s a fun surprise for me and the pups,” said owner Seton. “There’s always something for both my dogs. Walter goes through a toy a week, so the new toys that come every month are always a big hit. And Lily gets to enjoy the treats. It keeps my treat supply well stocked; I think I’m out of treats and then remember I have some in the pantry squirreled away from last month’s box.”
While the Nashville BarkPark is initially only a pop-up venture for now, BarkBox has ambitions to open more locations nationwide in the future. BarkPark also serves as an experimental retail channel for Bark. It follows the brand’s launch in more than 1,800 Target stores nationwide last August, followed up by Urban Outfitters earlier this month. Bark plans to announce more retail partners soon.
